Inside Bunratty Castle. Our tour guide told us there was a species of Irish elk that became extinct a long time ago. But their antlers and skeletons still turn up in bogs now and then. Apparently in ye olden days, elk antlers were popular with nobility, since they belonged to animals no one had ever seen. This set was quite huge, probably ten feet wide or more; it was hanging about thirty feet off the ground above a massive tapestry in the great hall. Why didn't I take any pictures of the great hall? Hey, I was busy photographing the freaky dead things.
