Speaking of freaky dead things and Irish nobility, they also liked to take those elk antlers they found in bogs and attach them to lamps and other bits of statuary, then hang them from the ceiling. So we found several examples of this strange figurehead sort of thing with antlers sprouting out the side for no apparent reason, hung from ceilings in small rooms.
